Wolves are able to tolerate below freezing temperatures, several months of darkness a year, and weeks without food and Arctic wolves, a sub species of the wolf family, inhabit some of the most difficult terrain in the world.  Within this tough environment you see this wolf anxious for the hunt and ready for the chase. The softness of the coat and detail of the face were painted with gouache on watercolor board.
