He may have a resigned patient attitude, but wolves never lose the intensity in the eyes. I wanted to create a cold, chilly environment, but with a feeling of being safe and sheltered.  Behaviorally, he had to also be far enough out of the shelter, to not be viewed as an injured wolf. To add to the realism of his wet environment, I added mud to his feet and darkened wet fur on his back.
