This squirrel is sitting backlit on the wall behind my house.  Squirrels in Forest Falls, California, have incredibly wonderful bushy tails and are enormously larger than most squirrels I have seen!  I enjoyed doing this piece in gouache, as you can really utilize the translucency of this medium for the soft backlighting and the vignette wash around him.
