In the mountains of southern California where I live, many of the animals have different behavioral patterns to other areas of the US. We get cold temperatures and snow as the town is between 5,000ft to 7,000ft but it also can revert back to warm sunny days very quickly in the winter. This results in many animals that would normally hibernate in cold climates like the chipmunks, only going into a semi- hibernation state and can be seen on a regular basis in winter months, looking for food caches.
