The background on this piece was made up from sketches and reference photos from the south end of Yellowstone National Park.  I liked the concept that an animal of this magnitude, would blend effortlessly into its surroundings. This bear, is a favorite of mine to paint as I like his proportions, expressions and head shape. He is the subject of the Playtime Bear series and “The Opportunist”.
