Description: The Chinese Leopard is a beautiful member of the cat family with a slightly longer coat than the African Leopard, lighter in color and extremely endangered. I photograph this cat in captivity at the Feline Endangered Species Breading Compound, in Rosamond, California. This compound has had much success in breeding this rare magnificent animal. By painting him looking directly at you, the viewer will find, no matter where they stand, his unique blue green eyes will follow you. This is an early gouache piece, a complimentary vignette, of a cat wide awake and alert on a rock in contrast to my bobcat sleeping on a rock, Soft Repose.
